Summary - We have two precollege courses that have been redesigned, and our FIGs are attached to those courses. Each course has a lead instructor who has some release time subsidized by the RPM grant. The lead instructor organizes meetings , monitors completion of tasks (like the use of CATs, reciprocal observations, and submission of data), and manages an online repository of course materials. All faculty teaching the course are part of the FIG -- it is a condition of teaching the course. Details on the FIG structure, including philosopy, meeting agendas, and observation protocols are available in this document: Update 9/30/10 (Erik Scott) - Faculty are very appreciative of having the archive of materials and many are actively emailing and using each others' worksheets/quizzes/etc. Our first two meetings for Math 91 have been productive and held from 3 - 4pm, and 7 of the 8 faculty members attended (the missing instructor teaches weekend courses and is participating in the Math 81 FIG). Nearly all faculty reported using a type of CAT, though not all were types described in previous institutes. Faculty members shared copies of materials and student work at the session.
